Warfare Through Intercession

DAY 7 — WARFARE THROUGH INTERCESSION

“So, truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore, His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.”

Isaiah 59:15-16

Come up higher: Take your place as a watchman on the wall.

I had this scripture in Isaiah 59 written out in my office for months as a reminder. When I first read it, my heart broke as Holy Spirit arrested me. God wasn’t looking for anyone to move mountains or to travel to the depths of the earth. He wasn’t searching for the strongest warrior or the bravest leader. He looked for just one, anyone, who would be positioned as a watchman on the wall, but the position was vacant. He looked for an intercessor and found no one. No one was praying.

Have you ever been in a situation where you desperately needed help but could find no one to help you? The agony of that loneliness would cause many of us to give up, but because God is the Almighty One, He brought forth salvation on His own. But – this is the key – that wasn’t His perfect way! He wanted to work through a person. He wanted to find a vessel. He was looking for someone who was in step with Him to take hold together with Him to see the victory together.

Intercession is more than prayer. It is partnership with God. Intercession is yielding yourself to Him in prayer until you sense a shift in the heavenlies – a release of breakthrough.

Today, God is still looking for those who will take their positions as watchmen on the wall. Those who will carry His heart. Those who will contend for God’s perfect will to come to pass. Those who will not let the fire go out. You may think you’re not an intercessor because you don’t have a certain gifting or personality. My friend, the only qualification is surrender. Will you surrender to God’s invitation to be available to partner with Him through intercession? He wants to use you to change your world!

Prayer: “Lord, I am willing to stand in the gap for others. I want to partner with You to see Your Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Here I am, use me!”

Journal: Do you sense the call to intercessory prayer? How do you think God may want to use you to bring His Will to pass?
