A Mature Heart
DAY 2 — A MATURE HEART
“So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.’ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.”
Isaiah 6:5-8
Come up higher: Invite God to mature every part of your life.
Commercial farming has created methods of increasing the availability of fruits and vegetables by accelerating appearance before true maturity. The result is produce that looks ripe but is hard and flavorless. Am I the only one who has had one of “those” apples?
Christian maturity is not found in how many scriptures you memorized or how proficient you are in church lingo. True maturity is found in a believer who has taken on the nature and character of Christ in every area of life.
Spiritual maturity is not just about gifting, knowledge, or outward expression. It is about allowing God to form your mind, will, and emotions into alignment with His nature. Isaiah encountered the glory of God, and his first response was awareness of what needed to be refined. That is maturity: not pretending, not performing, but allowing God to do a deep work within you.
Only as we submit our whole lives to God’s ways, will we mature in our faith. Then our lives be marked with the weight of His Presence and power of His authority.
Prayer: “Lord, form my heart according to your character. Align my thoughts, my emotions, and my desires with Your nature.”
